Messy Church
Messy Church?” asked the puzzled visitor
“What on earth does that mean?”
For those who feel equally puzzled, “Messy Church” is for families, and anyone who feels young at heart.
So often, church can feel strange and even a bit threatening if you haven’t been in much. Many people admit to having some faith in God, but find church difficult. Or it may be that traditional church times aren’t really suitable.
Messy Church is a more informal way of exploring faith and worship. Each time we meet there is a particular theme being followed, so first there are a number of creative activities based on the theme. Some of the activities include ribbon embroidery, large scale painting, glass painting, stained glass windows, mosaics, making windmills, name bracelets, foot painting and many others.
Then we move to another part of the church and have a short time of worship, often using DVDs, where the children are free to join in in whatever way they want to. Finally, we all enjoy food and friendship together.
We want Messy Church to be as warm and welcoming as possible, so if you come along and can think of any improvements, we will be delighted to discuss them with you!
Please look out our events and services for the dates and times of our Messy Church.
